Browse by compound

Shop wheels by tread material.

Engineers and procurement teams pick by compound first. Polyurethane is the default for retail; anti-static is mandatory for sensitive flooring; phenolic is built for high-temperature ovens.

By Size

Pick your wheel diameter.

5-inch is the industry-standard shopping cart wheel diameter, used in nearly every major US grocery and retail fleet. Hardware stores and lumber-cart fleets often run larger 6-inch or 8-inch wheels.

By Type

Wheel only, full caster, or kit?

If your axle and caster body are intact, you only need wheels. If the caster body is damaged, replace the whole assembly. Kits cover both at once.

Fleet & Bulk

Cart-fleet operators get tier pricing, dedicated reps, and NET-30.

If you operate a multi-store fleet or refurbish carts professionally, you should not be paying retail. We run a fleet program for grocery chains, refurbishers, and cart-service contractors with volume pricing, custom packaging, EDI, and a single point of contact.

How to choose

Three steps from a wonky cart to a working part on the dock.

If you've never replaced a shopping cart wheel before, the process takes about five minutes per cart with the right part in hand.

1

Measure your wheel

Most US grocery carts use a 5-inch wheel with a 5/16-inch axle. Measure across the tread to confirm. If unsure, snap a photo and text us.

Ordered Tuesday, on the dock Wednesday. The Walmart fits dropped right in. We've been replacing wheels on 60 carts a quarter.

We service three chains and SCW is the only supplier that doesn't make me figure out cross-references myself. The retailer pages are why we order here.

I sent a photo of the broken caster. They confirmed the part in 11 minutes. The wheels were here in two days.

Frequently asked

Common questions about cart wheels.

Most buyers want fitment certainty, ship time, and bulk pricing. Below covers each.

What size shopping cart wheel do most US grocery stores use?

The standard shopping cart wheel size in US grocery stores is 5 inches in diameter with a 1-1/4 inch tread width and a 5/16 inch axle hole. Walmart, Target, Publix, Whole Foods, Kroger, and most regional chains all run this size as their default. Smaller carts (express lane, hand baskets, mini-carts) sometimes use a 4-inch wheel, and a few specialty carts use larger industrial casters, but 5 inch covers the overwhelming majority of replacements.

How fast do orders ship from Shopping Cart Wheels?

Orders placed by 3:00 PM Central Time on a business day ship the same day from our Mansfield, TX warehouse. Standard ground shipping reaches most US destinations in 1 to 5 business days. Need it faster? Expedited and freight options are available at checkout, and our fleet program supports custom logistics including pre-kitted pallets to specific stores.

Do these wheels fit my cart brand?

If your store runs a major US retailer cart fleet, we have a retailer-specific page with the OEM cross reference: Walmart, Target, Publix, Whole Foods, Kroger, Aldi, HEB, and Costco. If your cart is from another manufacturer (Unarco, Technibilt, Versacart, United Steel, Wanzl), our universal P&H wheels fit virtually all standard 5 inch x 5/16 axle assemblies. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the broken wheel and the cart and we will confirm fitment within minutes during business hours.

What is the warranty on Shopping Cart Wheels products?

Every wheel and caster ships with a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects under normal commercial use. We also offer a 30-day fitment exchange: if the part you ordered does not fit your cart, we will exchange it for the correct part. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility unless the fitment error is on our side.

Is bulk pricing available for fleets?

Yes. Volume pricing tiers apply automatically: 100–499 wheels get 5% off, 500–999 wheels get 10% off, and 1000–1499 wheels get 15% off (our maximum tier discount). Orders over 1500 units go to RFQ for custom pricing. Established accounts can request NET-30 terms, EDI integration, dedicated rep coverage, and custom packaging. See the fleet program for details.

What materials are these wheels made from?

Most of our wheels use a polyurethane tread (Shore 98A hardness) over a polypropylene hub, which is the same material specification used by P&H Casters in factory-grade carts. Polyurethane offers higher load capacity, better flat-spot resistance, and quieter operation than rubber. We also stock anti-static dissipative compounds for retail floors that need static control. Compare materials in our material guide.
